Prince George’s County, MD – Eleven Injured in Major MVA on I-495 near Route 50

Prince George’s County, MD (August 2, 2022) – Several people were hospitalized following a motor vehicle accident reported in Prince George’s County on Saturday evening. At around 8:15 p.m., on July 30, the Maryland State Police and firefighters were dispatched to the scene of a crash on Interstate 495.

Police reports indicate that several vehicles collided on the outer loop of the interstate in the area near Route 50. The crash blocked multiple lanes of the roadway, resulting in severe delays in traffic. Traffic ended up being tied up for several hours in the area as police and other officials worked to clear the scene.

Eleven people suffered injuries as a result of this motor vehicle accident. Paramedics responded to the scene and rendered aid to the victims. The victims were then transported to local hospitals for further care.

The Maryland State Police is investigating the crash at this time to determine its cause.
