Explosion Incidents in MarylandIn 2020, there were a total of 984 explosions that took place in the United States. This number increased by more than 250 incidents from the year before. Each explosion incident that takes place has the potential to cause significant damage to structures in the area and the immediate loss of life. There are many reasons why explosions occur. Some of the leading causes include:
- Electrical hazards: there are instances where explosions are caused by static electricity building up. Over time, a spark can be ignited and result in a huge explosion.
- Hazardous chemicals: We see many explosions occur in businesses across the country due to hazardous chemicals. Even a tiny spark can ignite a deadly explosion instantly.
- Combustion engines: workplace environments can have combustion engines that can rapidly explode due to malfunctions.
- Flammable gases and liquids: When flammable liquids or gases are released, they can cause an explosion. In housing complexes, we see many explosions occur due to faulty HVAC systems or those with built-up gas.
