Montgomery County, MD – Three Lose Lives in Collision with Snowplow on Columbia Pike near Briggs Chaney Rd

Montgomery County, MD (January 4, 2022) – A major weather-related incident took place in Montgomery County on Monday evening that claimed the lives of three victims.

At around 6:45 p.m., on January 3, the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service received the request for assistance at a collision on Columbia Pike.

Reports show that a snowplow was traveling in the area of Columbia Pike near Briggs Chaney Road while clearing the roadway after more than a foot of snow fell across the D.C. metropolitan area.

For unknown reasons, a second vehicle traveling on Columbia Pike became involved in a collision with the snowplow.

Three people, two men, and one woman were trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service. Once removed, the victims were pronounced dead at the scene from their injuries.

A fourth person inside the vehicle, an adult male, was transported to a nearby hospital with critical injuries.

The Montgomery County Police Department is currently investigating the crash.
