Colesville, MD (January 6, 2022) – On January 6, the Montgomery County Police Department responded to a motor vehicle accident that was blocking the westbound side of Maryland State Route 200.
Reports from the MCPD show that at around 7:40 a.m., a crash involving an unknown amount of vehicles occurred on the westbound side of the highway. The incident blocked both directions of the highway, causing delays in the area between New Hampshire Avenue and Layhill Road just before exit 10.
The police and firefighters immediately closed off a portion of both sides of the road as they worked to remove debris from the area. Multiple police and fire units were requested to provide assistance at the accident as medical personnel provided treatment to those injured.
At least one victim was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for the treatment of injuries that were caused by the accident.
The circumstances surrounding what led to the accident taking place are currently under review.
We would like to extend our warmest thoughts to the victims who suffered injuries in this accident. We hope they make a full and timely recovery.
