Fatal Car Accidents in Maryland

Boonsboro, MD – Driver Loses Life in MVA on N Main StCrash data for Maryland indicates that an average of more than 500 people die as a result of collisions every year in our state. The total number of traffic fatalities accounts for roughly 0.4% of all traffic-related incidents that occur in our state annually.

People can suffer fatal injuries in collisions across our state for a variety of reasons. We see many accidents take place as a result of negligent motorists. Some of the most common contributing factors surrounding fatal crashes in our state include:

Impairment: The majority of auto wrecks that we see every year involve drivers who are under the influence of alcohol. Although there are strict laws in place to prevent impaired drivers from entering our roadways, we continue to see them cause severe and fatal injuries to others sharing the road.

Distractions: With the dramatic rise in technology over the past decade, we have seen a significant number of people harmed in crashes involving drivers who are on their cell phones while operating their vehicles. Driving while distracted can make it nearly impossible to control your vehicle in time to avoid a crash.

Speeding: Traveling above the posted speeding limit is a common factor in a significant number of crashes that we see in our state. Speeding, especially during inclement weather conditions, can have life-altering and fatal results for others.
