Frederick, MD – Pedestrian Struck & Killed on US-340 by MD-17
Frederick, MD (March 15, 2022) – A New York Woman suffered fatal injuries after being struck by a motor vehicle in Frederick, Maryland. On March 12, the Maryland State Police from Frederick Barack responded to a crash on US Route 340.
Reports from MSP show that just after 4 p.m., a 69-year-old Staten Island resident was traveling in a 2013 Hyundai Accent near westbound US Route 340 and Maryland State Route 17. The driver pulled her car to the shoulder of the highway in order to switch seats with the passenger.
The woman exited her vehicle. At the same time, the driver of a Honda Accord was not able to control their vehicle. The Honda struck the Hyundai, pushing the vehicle into the woman who was outside of her vehicle.
The pedestrian was flown to a Baltimore hospital where she passed away due to her injuries.
The two occupants of the Honda were both transported to Frederick Health Hospital. The passenger in the Hyundai was provided medical treatment by paramedics.
The crash is under investigation by the Maryland State Police.
