Pedestrian Accidents in MarylandDuring the year 2020, more than 6,700 pedestrians suffered fatal injuries in crashes in the United States. This number increased by more than 4.7% from 2019. Nearly 150 of these fatal crashes occurred right here in Maryland. Regrettably, we see hundreds of people hospitalized with serious injuries that impact their lives long-term.
Even though state lawmakers are proactive when it comes to ensuring pedestrian safety, we see many people harmed as a result of negligent drivers. Although we can take actions to ensure we do not harm others, pedestrians cannot control how drivers behave while operating their vehicles.
As a result, we see many people harmed by drivers who engage in reckless behaviors. These include:

- Driving while too tired
- Inexperienced motorists
- Reckless driving behaviors
- Blindspot accidents
- Left-turn accidents
- Failing to yield the right of way
- Backing up without looking
- Internal bleeding
- Hand, arm, and wrist injuries
- Neck injuries
- Facial/jaw injuries
- Head injuries
- Traumatic brain injuries
- Scarring and severe disfigurements
- Pelvic injuries
