Gaithersburg, MD – Bicyclist Loses Life in Truck Accident on S Frederick Ave near S Westland Dr
Gaithersburg, MD (January 16, 2022) – A commercial vehicle accident reported in Gaithersburg on Friday morning led to the death of a bicyclist.
Reports of the accident provided by the Montgomery County Police Department show that a 61-year-old woman from the Gaithersburg area was riding a bicycle at around 8:30 a.m. As a Disposal Mack trash truck in Potomac turned right onto South Frederick Avenue from South Westland Drive, it struck the woman.
An ambulance responded to the scene to allow medics to treat the injured woman. She was then transported to Shady Grove Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The police confirm that the woman had passed away from her injuries after arriving.
The police department is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
